This miraculous houseplant never stops. Just when it’s getting tired and straggly and I think about throwing it out, another gorgeous yellow or sometimes pinky-red blossom bursts open. It’s a tropical gift all year long in Saskatchewan. I bought it 3 or 4 years ago at a plant nursery and have never given it any special treatment. What a perfect tough little plant.

After only a few days the flowers dry up and fall off but I can never throw them away. The faded colours and delicate papery folds are still beautiful.

I saved them for awhile until I came across a nice deep frame. With a little work and some white glue, the flowers have another life under glass and nature’s sculptures will hang on the wall for years.
