This blog is one excuse for taking travel photos and I can't stop myself. I truly love composing and snapping pictures and usually have my trusty ipad tucked in a green purse attached to my body.

The Caboose is my personal journal and also for you, if you want to read on. Or just look at the pictures to get a glimpse of the wonderful world of Asia Minor.

We signed up for Turkey on this tour but found ourselves in a shimmering blue cave in Greece.

First it was this pretty storybook harbour lined with pastel-coloured boxy houses, the kind that would be easy and fun to draw.

Only a half-hour ferry ride from the shores of Kas, Turkey, this little Greek island, just 6 kilometers long, makes you wonder how many gorgeous places that we've never heard of are hidden all over the earth.

This one is called Meis by the Turks and Kastellorizo by the Greeks. Everyone has had a turn occupying its rugged soil - Byzantines, Ottomans, Egyptians, even the French and Italians during WWI, and the British after the war. But it's the Greeks who ended up with the prize.

Little fried fish and giant loggerhead turtles, a climb to the hilltop to a 14th century castle for a spectacular harbour view, a swim in the turquoise water between minuscule neighbouring islands. It's a tough life being a tourist.

We weren't always sure where Natasha was taking us but a wonderful surprise was waiting - a sea cave extraordinaire.

Lay on the floor of the boat! Heads down! See the small dark cave entrance in the photo below? Before we knew it our dingy slipped through that space barely a meter high, and we were inside the Blue Grotto.

Wow! Gorgeous! The incredible blue inside the cave comes from sunlight refracted through the sea just under the cave entrance. A dazzling intense colour in crystal clear water. Some of us couldn't resist jumping in.

It's larger than the world famous Blue Grotto in Capri, Italy, and far less visited. The internet tells me the cave is 75 meters long and 35 meters high.

The sea and the sun inspired some quick watercolours that afternoon. Half our group of 10 travellers packed art supplies on the tour. Here's my souvenir of St. George's Island.

This was my first and only trip to Greece. Cheers to Corinne and Natasha from VM Travel Adventures for getting us off the beaten track to this peaceful little gem in the Mediterranean.
