Most of my Caboose posts are from the archives but not this one. Our first flight in the era of Covid took us last weekend to visit our delightful granddaughter and her staff. What a lovely time we had!
We hiked the boardwalk through the marshland forest at Camosun Bog right beside University of British Columbia. Thank you to the city planners who kept the condo developers away. It's a gorgeous natural paradise in the middle of the city.
It was dark before 5:00 pm for a stunning Festival of Lights walk at the VanDusen Botanical Garden. A million spectacular lights, yes, the website said a million, lit up the pathways in creative designs. Grandpa bought us a round of hot sugary donuts and our little girl found the snow on the grass irresistible no matter how cold her hands were.
I always visit my childhood buddy, Deb R. who was born and raised in Swift Current, but has been a Vancouver girl for 45 years. We're smiling under our masks like these 14 big bronze guys. Deb and I have been friends for nearly 70 years, yikes! She has as much fun with her art blog as I do with my Tea in a Caboose stories.
You may have heard on the news about a runaway barge that was set adrift in a storm a few weeks ago. There was concern it would take out Burrard Bridge but it's now grounded on the beach in English Bay and has become somewhat of a tourist attraction. Luckily it's empty, no risk of toxic spillage. I like the look of it, could be an installation art piece.
Our 2 1/2-year-old BC sweetheart!
Back in Saskatchewan now and can't wait to hug our two other wonderful little entertainers in Saskatoon.
Merry Christmas!
