Last spring 2020 won't be remembered as a great season for some things, but it was a very good year for crocuses at the old Nodge acreage east of Swift Current. I picked just a few tiny blossoms to take to my mom, who always looked forward to seeing these early signs of spring, up on the hill behind the old airplane hangar.

She asked me last week if I had seen any this year, but the days are chilly, I haven't yet been out in the countryside. And today, April 11, 2021 it snowed all day, any little beauties will be covered with a heavy white blanket.

I have come across other Saskatchewan wildflowers: wild roses, bluebells, blooming cactus, a wild Saskatchewan lily, a pretty field of dandelions, dotted throughout my iPhoto library. With any luck Vanna White will take us to find more this summer.

I remember exactly where I saw each of these over the last few years. Maybe sometime I'll do a little research and find the common names and botanical names.

Country-cruising near Rhineland, SK, dandelions never looked so attractive
